In Canada students are allowed to work for twenty hours a week. It depends on the nature of the work. First you go for initial survival jobs after that at the beginning. If you are a student you have to do part time jobs in different fields, if you have good work experience you can earn decent money through these jobs.
The Canadian labor process is rather time-consuming. In the beginning when
you are newly settled in Canada you want a job to support your daily expenses
immediately, these are basically survival jobs. They are usually on minimum
wage but they want it. There are customer service jobs, call center jobs,
security jobs and more. These jobs will pay you up to 14$ to 16$ per hour.
It depends on your working skills. If you don't have the skills to communicate
well with customers, you should look out for physically demanding warehouse
or factory jobs. Some people prefer less physical jobs like security guard.
But to apply for jobs of this type, you should be legally certified. To get
the certificate, you have to take some courses. These jobs have a higher salary
up to 16 $ to 19 $ which is more lucrative.
There are two types of jobs in Canada known as regulated and non-regulated
jobs
1) Regulated:
15% to 20% jobs are managed. They need a certificate or license. They are
teachers, nurses, electricians and technicians. In regulated jobs the license
varies for different areas. For example a higher capacity job requires more
time to qualify. It takes many years and effort. E.g. doctor, teacher, engineer
etc. The certification is difficult and takes time but when the crash course
is complete, they can earn 250,000$ to 500,000$ per year. A doctor can easily
earn 100,000$ in a month and if he starts his own practice, he can earn 200,000$
to 300,000$. Crash courses are designed for doctor, engineer and teachers.
That's why their salary is so high. But it also depends on factors such as
skills, work experience, qualification and how much salary you can negotiate.
A lawyer's salary starts with 60-70,000 $ and goes up to 100-110,000 $ with
time and experience. For teachers, in the beginning they earn up to 50-60,000
$ but it can go up to 70-80,000 $. For new immigrants the best field to start
is nursing. Apparently it starts with 40-50,000 $, and over time it increases
up to 90-100,000 $.
2) Unregulated:
IT is the most accessible job in this field. In the beginning it will take
around 60-70,000$ but if your skills are very fast you can easily earn 90-100,000$.
They have a lot of office jobs in this field like accountant, financial work,
sales work, administrative work etc. The average salary is between 40-50,000$.
In conclusion they have tons of job opportunities in this country with handsome
salary, but they require hard work, skills, experience and luck.
